Does Blackhat Still Work For Twitter?

I've noticed a lot succesful twitter marketers who own accounts with 1m+ followers say that using blackhat methods that involves spamming, bots, proxies and aged accs etc just isn't going to work any more because those methods have become saturated.

And that building unique brand/ account that posts relevant and valuable tweets is what will make more money right now. Obviously it's a lot harder to make a page that is completely unique in 2013.

So what's better? Using blackhat methods or going the whitehat route?

Both.
A lot of big account owners, people really banking and making brands on Twitter are actually taking up mass following again on their other accounts. Have a few where you try to make a brand, don't mass follow. But then take some aged accounts, and using follow/unfollow you can slowly build something that way.

But most new accounts that grow fast have $$$-$$$$ invested in them in purchased retweets from other big accounts. If you have a good idea, you have to build it FAST, or it will be stolen and made big before you can.

Why do we insist on painting every method black or white? Just do what makes money which is basically a mix of both.
You cannot abuse it both ways but so much.

What I do is build up a bunch of black hat accounts, and then use them to promote my main accounts, keeping them clean from the black hat methods.

yep , never let twitter to spam your main account .

accounts used for spamming will 100% get banned , you will need to rinse & repeat .

Well my main Twitter Account got banned 13 (!!!) times. I wrote each time that I have no clue what they talk about and agreed on everything the asked me and Boom Account was enabled again. It seems they dont keep a log of how many times an accoungt has been baned.

I've experienced this aswell haha, they just unban accounts and dont really care

Because brandig doesn't really allow for gray areas, you pick a route for an account, and stay with it, maybe in the beginning you can mix, but Twitter is a network where things like follower loyalty and relationships matter often. Not like Tumblr/Pinterest where you just spam out content continuously.
