Does Ask update before Google?

Checking SERPs today and I'm seeing that a particular site which is ranking decently in Google is now going in and out of Ask. Ask serves Google results and the difference in position between the two is normally not that much. I'm thinking this could be a harbinger. Anyone know for sure?
