Hey Blackhatters,

I hope everyone had a productive weekend. I'm curious as to if anyone still DM's followers. When the feature was just introduced, this used to be a strong method. If you're gaining a couple hundred followers each day, this is essentially a free "email" list. Obviously, it would be most efficient to DM people who just followed you.

If you still are DM'ing followers, what kind of limits do you use per account? Would you recommend this as a successful method?

One year back, I managed to get around 400-500 followers per day (mass following 1000), and DM'd all the followers, automatically, using Crowdfire (at the time JustUnfollow).
 
Yeah. And answering your question - I found DM's quite useful when starting, right now I don't use it but I managed to get maybe 30% of all the people that followed back to click on the DM CTA.

Limits: On an aged account, I was following like crazy (1000 follows in around 5 minutes) and MD'ing like crazy too (Crowdfire did/does it in bulk once you log, they check new followers and send DMs)

I definitely can see how DM's have a very high conversion rate. Does anyone else have an opinion?
 
Anyone? I think this could be a huge source of traffic.
 
as long as you have a ton of non spammy messages in your rotation it can be very effective.
 
i'm actually using it manually for people that start following my account (fashion boutique) - i've only got the 1 message but its a genuine human message signed off with my name. thinking of copying it over to FollowLiker maybe on 50 DMs a day? the current message has the website address - should i take it out to not look spammy?
 
i found that people were genuinely interacting with the message (10% off offer) too!
 
Test it before without it, and use multiple message variations. Sometimes the message will be filtered and not reach destination due to a spammy link.

Didn't DMing your new followers hurt your follow rate ? I mean i my personal account I would just unfollow anyone who send me a spammy link. I thought probably everyone else do it too. Have never sent a single DM from my promotional accounts.
 
Hey Jabba,

I think this heavily depends on what the message is. If the account isn't advertising the product and has a feed the follower is genuinely interested in. Then, I think if your dm is thoughtful enough you can craft it to advertise but also engage them.
