Does anyone here own a successful personal account?

As the title suggests, I'm looking to hear from anybody with experience on personal accounts. This means, you just post whatever you want and every now and then it's you. Or it's always you. Whatever works, and by successful I mean I'd prefer to hear from people who have actually made money through personals and/or have accounts over xx,xxx. ALSO, I do not mean FAKE personals, like catfishing and stuff like that. I'm planning to start a personal within the coming months. I believe that these accounts are really profitable just because you can promote literally anything on them, niche of the item you're promoting doesn't really make a big difference. But, I'd love to hear from people with actual experience.

I have a fairly successful personal account. around 20K followers (so not sure how 'successful' you would class that as). I find it very hard to mobilise them or get them interested in much at all. I have way more luck with 'themed' accounts: food/celebs/fitness. I appreciate the personal account, and it has opened up a lot of opportunities for me, but it's hard work. I aim to keep working on it and see where it leads.

What's the engagement rates on average for your 20K? I also find a lot of value in personals not only for the fact that they can suddenly go from being worth zilch to $10K+, but for the fact that you can create a lot of relationships with people and that DOES open up the door for opportunities. Both business and just for fun stuff. I love the idea that if you go on vacation and you're "instagram famous" you can just post hey anybody wanna hang out for a bit, and most likely somebody will say sure.

Hi! I have a personal account of 4k, so i wouldn't call it successful but it's work in progress.
All my posts are original content - photos taken by me or of me. It helps that i have a few friends who are photographers with skill range "amateur to pro". So i do photoshooots.
I genuinely try to deliver to my followers. Despite it being a personal account - it is in a niche. I post only certain things.
I had an engagement rate of 10% before instagram changes, now it's only 5% or so which sucks. I don't get a lot of comments tho, mostly likes.
I think i have very good potential with this account. And i have some plans, but it's still in the far future. Now i'm growing at the rate 200-250 followers a day without botting.

I have a successful personal photography account, with 33k followers, but not sure that's what you mean?

Do you guys use a bot to grow your accounts? Or is it natural?

I don't use bots. I do manual follow/unfollow routine. I have a roughly 50% followback rate which is pretty good from what i see.

Wow, had no idea its that hard to 'mobilize' facebook followers (on personal accounts).

I've never really thought about growing my personal account but I would say that if you aren't afraid to "step out of your comfort zone" (nothing too crazy) then you shouldn't have a hard time getting followers.

If you don't mind, since I'm struggling with my own personal account, a few questions:

1. Do you just use follow/unfollow without liking?
2. Do you follow to the 7500 limit and then unfollow all of them over a few days?
3. The thing with my account is, unlike yours, there is no niche. It's just me or whatever I want. Would you suggest just following people who follow other popular personal accounts? I've been following/liking people who follow popular YouTubers. Basically I'm asking who you follow.

1. Yes
2. No. I follow and unfollow every day, so it won't look spammy. On personal account a lot of followings look awfully spammy and people usually don't like that. So i just follow people and unfollow the same amount the next day. I use iconosquare for that, because it's sorting your followers by recently followed, unlike mobile app. So i don't accidentally unfollow recent followers, i give the ma day at least.
3. What i did is i found a couple of big accounts in my niche and i follow their followers. So i get people interested in the same thing i do.

No, i don't think it would work. Every successful personal account i saw had some sort of niche anyway. Basicly your interests = your niche. Like a hot girl = posting her selfies, a guy "hurr durr going to gym to pump some iron", motivation etc.
So find a couple of things that you interested in, do a few posts about it, find big accounts of that niche and follow their followers.
In my opinion it's the best approach for a personal acc.
