Apart from the fact that it’s pricey, I haven’t found a single thing that DirectAdmin could not handle better than cPanel. sht is just so ugly to me and the orange/yellow colour is bs. gui ugly asf

Recently found the WP installer in DirectAdmin (unknownly to me it’s been there for years now) so you no longer have to install upload wp manually every single time, and the shell that let’s me SSH into my wp sites and directories directly speeding up most of my automation projects.

The major reason I like direct admin panel it’s because I find it 1 million times easier to navigate and edit files without bugging me asking me countless number of times whether I want to edit it or not (something I find weird in cpanel).

The customization options that direct admin provides you with, things like cron job, themes, php settings, backup automation or scheduling, email accounts, excellent.

now, I am not saying cpanel lacks these things, I am just saying they are weird with the way they display them. I also noticed that cpanel forces you into a new tab when you click a feature such as file manager from your first dashboard your are greeted with thereby creating multiple tabs unnecessarily. some files are also almost uneditable you have to struggle with them. lol, so annoying

Hey, im in no way affiliated with DA, just kinda think they are cooler than the rest of the bs in the market. My first experience with DA was with Hostkoala until 2022 when I finally moved from shared hosting to VPS hosting.

To me, I would rank control panels like this:

DirectAdmin
cPanel maybe
Cyberpanel
Webmin
Fastpanel (never used them but heard they are not bad)…

the rest may line up.

And hey the best control panel ever is to use no control panel if you’re an expert i know. just SSH, WinScp or ISPconfig, it will teach you a lot about Linux commands, errors and several configurations and installations of programs, nano, security, database and a whole lot more.

i use aapanel. DirectAdmin i would assume is better as aapanel still has alot of errors/fixes, but theyre both better than CPanel and their ridiculous price.
cpanel has the nicest gui, thats about it. i like aapanel because its free tho lol

Just move on to FlyWP with a Vultr HF VPS and your nightmare is over .. =) .. But yeah, DirectAdmin is nicer than Cpanel to work with.

I have never liked the DA interface, it is definitely their biggest drawback. cPanel apart from their insane pricing policies are stable and most people are very used to the way the interface is structured. Every new panel that is released usually mimics their interface and that's a good thing, because if it looks like cPanel it is more likely to gain some traction.

The issue with the smaller and cheaper or free panels is that they are not predictable. You never know when or if they are going to discontinue them and how often they will be updating. Sometimes applying updates is time sensitive and critical.

By the way Webuzo recently released a newer version of their panel, which is surprisingly good and pricing is ok. I am testing them live now.

I am only using Plesk to be honest, Cpanel feels outdated to me
