Does anyone else have trouble sticking with ONE idea and executing it?

Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone else deals with shiny object syndrome (hopping around a bunch of different business ideas and never really accomplishing anything)

I've watched a bunch of videos on it and it basically just comes down to staying dedicated, there's no secret "formula" to curing it.

I've probably changed business ideas around 10 times this year where if I just stuck to one idea I would have accomplished so much more and gotten so much further.

Does anyone have any tips?

Yeah that happened to me when I was just starting my im journey but at one point you have to decide to go with only 1 idea if you want to be successful.

Yes I have been struggling for years by splitting my efforts to different ventures online maybe to many. I finally understood this is part of the reason I was not successful. I know that in your head it makes sense to start multiple things and grow them and then focus your efforts on the ones that provide the best results but it is easier said than done.
Do not get me wrong ! You can definitely run multiple businesses and be successful but most likely you will have to build them one by one and focusing all of your efforts on the current project you are working on

Choosing a winning product/method or sector is too important before sticking with one.

Absolutely! Right now there are like 4 different things I wanna do and it ends up messing with my overall productivity. So I made a plan to go on about it step by step and devote to myself to each one fully....its hard tho.

For example I wanna start a faceless YouTube channel for months already and didn't take any action so far except creating those channels.

On the other hand, it is so important to diversify your income streams and never put all your eggs in one basket.

I surely do,
But i stick with them, invest and spend plenty of time working on and then either let them go or scale things up,
Sticking with only 1 thing is bullsh*t, especially with something like SEO that won't necessarily need 8 hours of work daily

Ive found that once you take time to sit down with yourself and focus on what your life plans are, what you want to accomplish on a big scale etc, you find that most projects no longer align with your goals, and you lose interest in them. Only few things truly serve your purpose, it just takes some effort to figure out what that purpose is. Once you do, itll filter out everything for you.

Normal at the beggining but you when you find a great idea, go all in!

I'm a lot better than I used to be, but I still have several projects that are probably 90% completed but still very much on the back burner. I find trying to structure your weeks, as in physically noting down 'I should do x on project y', works to some extent.

I have it bad. But it was more or less by design. I intended to sample a little bit of everything and see what I had an affinity for. Time for me to shit or get off the pot though.

My real problem right now is that I'm slowly becoming addicted to programming. Which is a complete tangent from what I thought I was wanting to do, and something I'm way behind the curve on, so it's really not worth my time at my current novice level compared to my more developed skills.

i think almost all problems can be solved with a change of perspective or point of view.

Is it possible that we are so afraid to fail that it's easier to sit there, dream, and either not start, or not see our dreams through?

Or is it also possible that we compare our goals to other people's businesses, without giving them the proper respect that maybe they not only got extremely lucky but also put in an insurmountable amount of time, effort, and sacrifice in order to make their business successful. Those sacrifices include giving up on our other ideas, and also taking the giant risk that we will fail.

Also I find that I'm terrified of actually becoming somebody. Because when I'm nobody, then what is there to lose. But if I'm somebody- like a guy running a business or talking to clients and becoming more important in society- then maybe that could also get me into trouble in some ways. I've survived this long without making myself important or ruffling some feathers of some competitors and having them know me by my real name etc.

So I think honestly, it could also be a defense mechanism or survival instinct to just simply not start anything- because it's not easy being somebody in this world-

So the final alternative is to get a job in a cubicle and just be a nobody..... so what's it gonna be for us, huh?

I am of opposite nature. I get bored when doing only one work. I need it to be mixed with variety of projects to feel good. Sometimes when the nature of work demands, I give dedicated 1-2 days continuous for it.
