Does Amazon close my account if...

...I grab images from their product page?

I contacted their support chat and they told me they do close accounts if they detect I got the images from their product page. "We can't give you the rights to post the images from the product pages" they said. "Fine", I said. "But you can't prohibit me to download them either, right? I mean, you don't own them". "Well, we do close accounts if we detect people that do it".

Then, I asked them to point me out where this stuff is written in the ToS of the Affiliate Program. The girl could't even spot it. I mean like... WTH. What do you suggest me to do? Has someone ever got their account closed for this?

Amazon is a great resource to quickly download images of products.

Yeah guys but how can they detect if I got them from their site? Have they ever banned someone for this? It seems weird.
 
No why in the hell would they ban you for using their images? You work for them,use whatever you want from their page.
 
That's what they told me. Looks weird but yeah sometimes the reality sucks. I love grabbing their images because their are big.
 
all amazon affiliate stores uses amazon images and texts (some spin them)
so this its wrong.
 
Don't worry bud,because I have an eCommerce site set up and every picture on there is theirs.I even had customer service look at my page and give me tips and they told me to use them.
 
Maybe they are just saying we can't use them but in reality they don't really care? I have searched through Google and I haven't found a single article/discussion regarding this stuff.
 
Probably the guy who told you that is not working in the deleting accounts department. Don't worry I never heard that someone was banned because of that.
 
Well, two Amazon assistants told me that. Not just one.

Yeah and they told me to use only the built-in Amazon Associates widgets and tools to get the images.

I don't understand what's wrong with using their images to make them money... and I thougt G was evil.
 
AFAIK, the operating agreement gives affiliates rights to use the images on Amazon. Read the ToS. Its mentioned there.
