Does allowing comments on posts give them better ranking ? What plugin do you use for this ? Is disqus the best ?

No idea on that but I remember a guy on BHW saying he used to delete the links in the comments and would replace them with his lmao

Some of the best content on my blogs are from user comments. If you get popular in your niche you will get some experts commenting... and now that content is basically yours for free. Google indexes them if you serve them from your site and I have seen comment snippets in the SERPS. On WordPress the links are all nofollow anyways and with a spam plugin it's never been unmanageable.

The short answer is that yes, it does, but it requires precautions:
- Disable user links in the comment & the website field
- Prevent spam submissions (use Akismet, reCAPTCHA, login such as Disqus, etc.)

Google indexes comments too. It adds valuable insight to the discussion.
Be sure to moderate them as well & delete any negative comments.

user comments on your content can help improve your rankings. Lots of comments left on a post will not only signal that your content is highly engaging, but it can also provide additional valuable and indexable content that's a supplement to You.

Its conten't freshness and adds more text to the page. So, if the comments don't contain links and reply to commond answers, yes it's good for SEO

Good comments always adds value to content.

Increases overall content, engagement, freshness. These are signals to Google.

How do you avoid spammy comments? Do you use disuqus?

I don't use Disqus because they have problems with the comments indexing. Just regular WordPress comments works for me. I use the plugin Antispam Bee. It's never been too much spam to handle.
