I wouldn't doubt it because most people probably go to AI and usually trust the results. I think these findings make sense. The key in the future will be optimizing for results in LLMs

It makes sense that traffic from AI chatbots convert nicely for the reason Ahrefs gave, this may even increase since people see these AI tools as intelligent and trustworthy. Many people have outsourced the use of their brains to these AI bots, so why not trust their recommendations?
 
AI traffic is only going to increase but you have to be aware that every AI crawl of your website will cost you money so it's not all profit
 
Very interesting point. I’ve noticed similar behavior with users coming from AI-generated recommendations — especially with high-intent queries.
From a conversion-focused standpoint, even though AI traffic volume is low, it brings more ready-to-buy users.


We’ve seen better ROAS on landing pages optimized for AI answers (e.g., structured, concise, FAQ-based). Might be the future of SEO — optimizing not just for Google, but for AI answers too. Anyone testing that approach?
 
That’s wild but makes sense. Less traffic, but smarter clicks. AI users already know what they want, so they convert faster.
 
While I agree that this AI chat brimg more targeted traffic, I doubt they increase conversions on small or medium sites. They are most often going to send users to the most authoritative site or sites they've partnered with.

As such, AI companies will probably soon start their own advertising platform for a small business owners to have a chance to appear on their results.
 
I've been working with a client recently and I can confirm that AI searches have a 100% close rate with him. Might not be that high in every niche. But definitely something to pay attention to.

Yes there's a post on x from ahrefs that breaks down how much higher their traffic from LLM's converted than organic. Having trouble finding it but its from one of their employees
 
Focus on aligning your site with what the AI summaries are likely pushing. If the AI sends them to you, they should be ready to act. Worth looking into for specific offers.
