Does AI content really get penalized?

Everyone is talking about AI content detection. Some claim AI-written posts rank just fine if optimized properly, while others report penalties. I personally see mixed results. What’s your take on it—should we avoid AI completely, or just focus on editing and adding human touch?
Lately, when i use to do Seo for guest posting and Web2.0 Links, i use to use AI for content creation, which use to work just fine for me, I haven't had any problems

If the article is detected as being created by AI, it will be flagged or disappeared, even penalized, similar to the user being detected using a bot. Because it is not yours and not created by the channel owner. Tip: combine AI with 30%-50% of self-correction, editing the article into your own words. Remember to follow the keyword planting method, SEO standards to keep the article ranking well.

Not directly. Google has said they care about quality, not authorship. If the content is thin, repetitive, or generic AI output, it won’t rank well. But if you edit, fact check, and make it valuable, AI assisted posts can perform just fine.

Follow Googles guidelines and you'll be fine. I have a site thats only AI content and after this spam update started I've been gaining about 30 keywords a day on search console.

My sites have been doing great too since the update >knock on wood<. I do have some posts which are pure AI but I fact check , tweak and rewrite the majority of my content. I am also big on making sure my pages show rich results.

I don't think so, I have been using AI content on one of my website since 2021 and the site has a consistent 30k+ traffic all time. So, I guess AI is not the problem here.
