I noticed some bloggers talking about Google penalizing people for over optimizing there keywords &
would like to know if some others have experienced the same with Google.

One guy optimized his wordpress blog 100% and used a 2.5% keyword density using the seo plugin
"Easy WP Seo"

He also had Adwords running & Google gave him a quality score of 5 on a post that has 26 on page seo
factors for the keyword, has anyone experienced the same with Google.

yes, its called keyword stuffing . keep your keywords density around 3-4%

Yes thats true. Keyword stuffing affect quality of content according to google.
Avoid using plugins as much as possible.

He said he used 2.5% & had Adwords on it, I'm using "Easy WP Seo"

If he got a bad ranking with a 2.5% keyword rating I'm thinking of
staying under 2.5 what do you guys think is it worth worrying about.

Dude, do not worry about keyword density. Just write like a normal person would write. As long as your URLs are good and titles, you should be fine. I like to put the keyword somewhere in the front of a paragraph and somewhere at the end which seems natural to me

Absolutely...

Keyword density should only be used as a controlling factor now - never a target. People really need to get away from this concept; Google is far smarter than this. Write naturally and mention your keyword near the start and the end, and that's it.

You should also have your keyword (modified/expanded with prefix/suffixes) in your Page Title and at least 1 Header near the top. Any more than that looks unnatural.

Also; avoid over-optimisation on your keyword anchors for inbound links. Use URL/Site name and generic 'click kere' type anchors for variety. This is especially important on EMD/PMD's as these can easily over-optimise your keywords. And be sure to link deep and wide - not just to the the home page.

Since Panda, all these factors have multiplied.

Depends really on the specifics of that niche but that has been hit by Panda lately.

Hi jascoken,

Can you give some examples of what you said down below
for these words.

URL/Site name and generic 'click kere' type anchors for variety

What is EMD/PMD's & how can they optimise my keywords.

I was wondering about a low keyword density, since sometimes the keyword is for example "symptom headaches", so it cannot be used naturally to achieve a 2%. But putting it in the first and last paragraphs is easier.

dont spam your keyword too much or you will be penalized

You shouldn't be using anything that can match a patern.
