i just received an email from someone selling indexing services. This is what they wrote

"There is no need to write how important it is to monitor the indexation of backlinks, if the link is not visible in the Google index, such a link does not transfer the SEO power for our domain."

What do you think it? Does a backlink which is not indexed yet pass power and more generally does a no-index page with do-follow links pass power.

Cheers

Link on other source to your web site (follow or no-follow, indexed or no idexed) can potentially drive a few hits at list to your web site. So that can be considered as some kind of source of traffic.

I think he is right
Thats why we try to index links so hard these days
One client came to me yesterday and told that he paid for seo guy last 6 months and he also send him link reports
But when i check the domain with ahref their is no Ref links points to that domain
So building links is not enough unless you index them to google

I noticed that Ahrefs always take a while to show backlinks. I see more off my backlinks on google search console than Ahefs

Wondering, is it possible that Google crawled a link, used it as a ranking factor, but did not index a link? I mean there are some differences between 'crawling' and 'indexing' ? :suspicious:

Yeah of course ahref is not powerfull than google
But Ahref shows almost all the links that we have and google shows only what it choose. Never show links that low quality and not indexed

This would make The spammers much easier job, its about creating links and THEN index them in order for Google take them into consideration
Crawling and indexing two differents things
I am pretty sure crawled links will not gona pass the link juice
only the indexed links

This is my thought as well, it makes some sense that crawled links count, indexing is just google showing the results on the SERP

Not indexed mean google has not noticed it. If google has not noticed it, then how it will pass power. However one possibility is, google has crawled that page containing your links but not indexed due to whatever reasons. In that case, it is possible for them to pass power

Without running more in-depth experiments, can't say for sure. But if Google doesn't see a link as worthy enough to index, why would they see it as a quality backlink to improve rankings?

If the page in not indexed, it is highly likely that google will pass on the link. So it will give you no power.
There are some rare exceptions, but as said before it requires testing and will waste you time.

Crawling and indexing are 2 different things.
Many people do profile backlinks but 90% of those links won't be indexed by google.

You just need to make sure that your link gets crawled. It doesn't necessarily needs to be indexed, even a crawled link has lot of power and will help you to build the authority of your page.

Indexation is required so that it will be visible to the users in serp.

Interesting claim, but is there any solid resource to back it up? Now we know Google algo is a black box so a lot of it is speculation.
