Do YouTube videos still work?

Right on. The retention rate is the one that matters in my opinion, not the length of the video. A well-made video that lasts 8 minutes is always better than an inferior 30-minute one.

Consistency matter and also if you do video make it with points to be easier to follow and make higher the engagement
 
Yes I agree I don’t mind longer videos if there’s actually something interesting going on A boring 10 minute video feels longer than a good 30 minute one

No one is watching so long videos anymore. You can already see even popular creators shifting to less length videos.
 
I agree, retention matters more than the actual length. A longer video works fine when the pacing keeps giving viewers a reason to continue.
 
Yes I agree If the first few seconds are boring people will probably leave no matter how good the rest of the video is
 
I don't think length matters that much either. If the video keeps giving you something interesting, people will stay
I've watched 30+ minute videos without a problem when the content is good, it's more about keeping people interested than the actual length
 
I agree that length itself isn't the main factor. A longer video can work well if it keeps delivering useful information or entertainment. Audience retention topic relevance and a strong structure probably matter more than simply aiming for a specific duration.
