Do YouTube videos still work?

The length of the video is not the most important factor; what matters most is the beginning—whether it can hook the audience and keep them watching.

exactly i think retention matters much more than hitting a specific video length A 10 minute video that keeps people engaged is far more valuable than a 30 minute video padded with unnecessary content

I do not think video length matters much as whether the creator keeps things interesting. I will happily watch a 30-minute video if every few minutes gives me something staying for.
And i will only stay long if there are more interesting things to look forward to on your page.

youtube is clearly still viable but does not focus on the length of ur videos. as long as people continues to watch them and finds the videos enjoyable, the algorithm will have no problem recommending them.

Exactly, A great story video beats a short video every time, If the creator keeps adding value, curiosity or a fresh angle, people won't care if it's five minutes or 30 minutes. Attention is earned, not measured by length.

I think retention matters more than raw length. A 30-minute video can work very well if the pacing stays strong and there’s a reason to keep watching every few minutes.

That's absolutely right. As long as the rhythm is maintained and the content is consistently valuable, the length doesn't matter. People stop watching because they're bored, not because the video is too long.

Making the visitors stay for 30 minutes is very hard in practical.

Switch to posting manually directly on your iOS device (or use a clean US SIM/resident proxy) and focus on keeping viewers engaged with an impressive "hook" in the first 3 seconds.

Exactly i think viewer retention matters more than hitting a specific length A 30 minute video can work great if it keeps giving viewers a reason to stay

Yeah pretty much. I don't really care about the length if the video keeps me interested. I'II watch 30 mins if it's actually good.

In my opinion youtube is still wprth trying but picking the right topic can save you a lot of time. some topics simply have much more demand than others.

fr tho retention is everything now.
between shorts and reels rotting people's attention spans, nobody sits through boring filler anymore. but if the pacing is actually good people will still watch a 30 min vid no problem.
just make it as long as the topic needs and keep the editing tight. if you're just dragging it out with fluff to hit some watchtime goal ppl are gonna bail in the first 30 seconds.

In my case, Youtube remains relevant but the first 30 to 60 seconds become crucial and do not depend on the video total duration a 7 minute clip without unnecessary pauses can win a battle against a 25 minute clip.

I agree. Video length isn't really the main factor. If the content keeps people interested even longer videos can work well. I think the key is providing consistent value & avoiding unnecessary filler.

Yeah I agree. Video length doesn't really matter if you keep it interesting. I'II watch 30 mins it there's enough good stuff to keep me hooked.

yes they really does still work. Instead of focusing on reaching a specific length thinks about having an excuse to continue watching because that was what can make an 8 minute video superior to a 30 minute one.
