I know embedding your YouTube video on other websites helps increase your rank within YouTube. But do YouTube embeds count as backlinks to help you rank in Google?

If you are embedding video on a site yes it can be also considered as a backlink because it is from external source but do not expect anything big from google rankings

So a text link pointing at your YouTube video is more powerful than embedding the YouTube video?

Yes, and I think this is the best kind of backlink.

Yes, that considers as a backlink and it help more to rank your video on Google.

iframe's count as backlinks.

Ah yes, good point! However I just looked at the iframe embed code that youtube uses, and it uses a different url than the typical watch?v= url. It uses youtube.com/embed/.

There's a lot of varying urls for a single video. I'm sure if you were worried about it, you could simply paste the videoid into the standard url, and use an iframe.

No it doesn't - it only has any worth as a backlink, if it actually provides views/clickthroughs to the video.

This makes sense, think about it. If you don't get any views from an embedded video, chances are it's a pretty crap link, so why should Google/YouTube care?
Keep in mind, that unlike your website, YouTube has full access (and more) to all your analytical data.

Also, don't trust blindly what everyone else is saying. If we're talking about ranking a video in YouTube (not Google), backlinks provide almost no benefit whatsoever:

WE'RE NOT TALKING ABOUT RANKING VIDEOS IN YOUTUBE.
Reread the OP's question.

AND STOP SPAMMING YOUR STUPID BS ALL OVER THE FORUM.

My bad, since the Op first said "helps increase your rank within YouTube", I misread the last part there!

Not sure why you're super raging about that though, nor what "spam" you're talking about... uh, this, and one other thread? 2 mentions counts as spam these days? o0

For what? o0

Yes it's considered as a External Link. Btw it's not targeted Anchor text variations. So it won't rank your keyword unless your video gets a backlink That's all :D
