Do you work 7 days in a week?

I tried working 5 days a week and it didn't work. 5 days working heavy and 2 days with lite work is best for me

I don't really have a concept of day and week, or time really. I work constantly. Any time I'm not working in between is just a distraction and entertainment. Sometimes those distractions last way too long though. So while it may sound like I work a lot I don't work enough. It's never enough. Time just melts away to a point where I lose entire months at a time and my wife needs to remind me of the date. If it wasn't for the clock windows has bestowed on me, I'm pretty sure I would phase out of existence.

Just poping up this question on my mind

Do you work 7 days a week? or do you take govt holiday as your holiday?

or something like you hang up the all of your work and give yourself 5 days vacation anytime ? :D
Depends on situations.

I salute on those working 7 days a week.. I can't do that I need a 1 day rest atleast:)

I wish I could work while I'm asleep
thats mee too , i wish i code a robot and whats come to my mind , that robot does better than me, lol

I actually work every day.

At one point I was doing 7 days a week and almost 10 hours a day but that lead to burnout quickly. I kind of learned that I need my mental health days off away from the computer and I usually take the weekends to the most extent. I try also not to go on social media and take walks more often when I can. My health lately has been ok so I have not been online or on BHW that much but things are getting better.

I do work 7 days a week if I have more work. Some times will take off to chill out

I work 5 days a week, but do give technical support (fully available in mobile and email) at the two remaining days.

Stopped keeping track of day and time tbh

I work on deadlines, requirements and when my body needs rest I give it rest. But looks like it's 7 days a week work for me. But not the same intensity of work everyday

Sometimes yes and sometimes no! Depending upon the work pressure I take my week offs or holiday offs!
Responsibility is something that you have to take up irrespective of the holidays you get, Right?

"Nop! I have 6 working days."

Because we are trapped in a system that pays for hours per week and not talent/ work done. This is a lingering effect of the assembly line manufacturing productivity mentality that coined the 40 hour work week. As technology changes so do our jobs but the measuring of productivity has not changed for most. We are still being evaluated like assembly line workers who have to produce a given number of parts in a limited time, whereas a lot of jobs of today cannot be evaluated in such criteria, which is why companies still enforce 7–5 or 9–5 hours for jobs that have different demands and workloads every single day.

The people who have the power to change this have the least incentives to change it. For an employee, the company is just filling the position and the person is not seen as en essential part of the company so the employees look like they need the company more than the company needs them even though it is them doing the heavy lifting. In such a case the employee is usually not in a position to request such a drastic change, at the same time let’s keep in mind that the management of today are millennials or boomers who might have a different perspective about the workplace compared to gen-z. The current management is likely to associate work with a strict 7–5 or 9–5 timing and it is harder for them to change their minds and they don’t see the value I taking such a risk because they can’t see the immediate benefit of treating their employees more humanely. It is a risk factor from their perspective and it probably won’t change much in their lives.

A manager might still be subject to 9–5 but the amount of stress for being in the office and looking like working is significantly higher for an average employee compared to a high level manager. The 9–5 office mentality rewards the state of looking like working more than working and that needs to change. The other problem is that managers who are not willing to take the risk of lifting the 9–5 or 7–5 schedule are more likely to do it because they can’t see the relation between product quality and employee happiness. People are missing out on their lives without being able to save significantly and depending on a paycheck month to month while spending their youth on a job that treats them like factory workers in the 1920s.

But there is hope. Especially with the pandemic the managers who were not willing to take the risk of trying out a different work style were forced to do it and saw that they survived and some employees are even happier this way. And as the newer generation starts taking managerial positions, they might bring their fresh perspective to the workplace. There are also a lot of start-ups trying different work styles. Dropbox is a great example of this: they switched to being primarily remote while still having offices and they abandoned the 9–5 factory schedule. You only need to be reachable during a short specific time window during the day. This also disrupts the “always be online” mentality which constantly causes the employees to be interrupted while they are trying to do mentally demanding work.

Technology and lifestyles change over time and the faster technology advances, the faster those lifestyles can change and adapt. I think the work style that a manager enforces on their employees it is an indicative of intelligence. Intelligence for me is how fast one can adapt to changing circumstances and adapt accordingly for the best outcome. If a manager is insisting on forcing a factory assembly line schedule despite their employees requests it means that they are more tied to rules just for the sake of following rules. If a manager listens to the current state of technology and the employees’ requests and chooses to a new style shaped by logic and people’s needs it means that the manager can adapt fast. Let’s hope that the intelligent managers who are still enforcing strict hours start proving their intelligence.
