Guys, I gave up one of my domains as it is been few months since google's update hit my site. So I decided to clone my current site to similar named domain. I also bought an expired domain with DA=29 (but DR is 0.5 though) and 750 backlinks. I am planning to setup 301 redirects to the new new domain. and of course I am going to deindex the old domain.

Will the expired domain (unrelated niche) of 29 DA will help even though niche is different? shall I proceed or I need to change something in my plan

It will but not that much.

So try to make the niche as similar as possible by checking Wayback Machine.

which is better lower DA and similar niche or Higher DA with different niche? I am not finding high DA domains for my niche

DA means zero / zilch to Google if you mean Moz's DA. You do realise that?

Check if the DA of the expired domain is real or inflated. Saying this because 0.5 DR with 29DA is a mismatch in my opinion.

If you redirect from old website to new then it should pass on penalty as well. (This is very debatable too.)

So not sure if you should do that.

Expired domains are definitely worth it in my opinion, you just have to make sure all of the metrics are right, its not been spammed with backlinks or it hasn't been used as a pbn in the past.

yes it will help you to boost your site a little but not too much.
