The 80's were a great time.
But it wasn't all flowery.
Today people think the 1980's were just like today, except with funny pants and haircuts, but reality was much different. We were close to nuclear war in several occasions, people all over the world were still divided, in 1987 or so nobody had any money and oil and gas cost an arm and a leg, there were bloody dictatorships all over latin america and about 3 or 4 wars going on at once in Iran/Iraq, India/Pakistan, Afghanistan, etc....
The 80's were great culturally and we were headed towards the end of the Cold War, which is cool in hidsight, but we didn't know that yet and there were many difficult times. The music reflected a lot of that too, there was a lot of protest music, some of it veiled, there was a lot of art and freedom movements and that made it more special.
So no, we'll never have the 1980's back, but sadly we can still have a nuclear war.....

i was a teenager in the 80's ..
no computer, no internet, no cell phone, no xbox, no playstation, no chat ... what a wonderful world!

As soon as I was old enough to appreciate the music and culture I so badly wished I was born ten years earlier. Mind you the 90s had their moments! Media wise we had The Spice Girls, Absolutely Fabulous, MTV was still JUST music.
Politics and Culture wise, I realise all decades had their problems. But purely from a music / party scene point of view - Im glad I was born when I was. When going out to play meant you were out all day until you were DRAGGED inside. No cellphone, ( but mabye a bit of Sega / Snes!! ) no PC in your own room, no internet, etc. Talking to colleagues now, they have problems getting their kids to leave their Xbox alone, never mind leave the house. Saddening.
