Well, it’s definitely an indicator that you may have some low quality backlinks. Like all other metrics though, you have to use it in conjunction with other factors.

I believe it helps you to know the quality of the domain you are buying. Low spam score indicates there are good links to the domain and this is a pointer to what you can expect from the domain. High spam score usually attract Google hit
 
Spam score based on low-quality backlinks, search engines don't like low qualities so yes spam score matter in SEO.
 
I don't look at spam score as definitive indicator that link is bad. If site has high spam score I check it manually.
 
Don't fully depend on spam score while visiting every other site.
You can check manually you get an idea, it's actually spammy site or not.
 
5 years ago I have a website that was penalized by google due to negative SEO and recently I checked that domain and (as expected) saw a very high spam score. So yes, spam score matters in SEO especially when buying expired domains to be used as money sites or PBNs.

Why don't you take 20 of the sites you have on your research spreadsheet, and check their spam score, see if the sites you want to rank against too, if they have a spam score.
 
i am not checking only spam score i am checking site manually and site backlinks and quality of blogs.
 
Not Much! I my niche industry a famous local blogger is getting aroung 70K traffic new and old. Where his website spam score stands at 78(done by haters). But still he receives so much love from Google and Users.
