Most of my links are url in anchor, and that makes good job, but I'm curious what anchors people use.

People still use anchor text and spam to rank. I saw website in top3 for keyword - instagram likes - ranked with pure spam, almost all backlinks with anchor text

URL focuse link building will be need! But not all links with url focused! We need to use both brand anchors and generic keywords and also naked urls as an anchor text!

You need a mix of all, the idea is to appear natural plus it depends upon your niche too.

has anyone checked if we really can have more branded anchors (without .TLD) without facing overoptimization? because if its "domain.TLD" format then its fine, but what if its without TLD and we have like 40% anchor ratio?

URL focused - " keeping only URL as anchor text", I think you should only use 30-40%

Don’t just focus on links, build relationships with the site owners that you’ve come across during the whole process.

If you have live users that are coming back, then normal looking URLs are something fairly important to some users. It is also easy to bookmark/share.

If you have only one visit users, then do what is best for your SEO strategy.

URL focused anchor is Good Choice to promote your site in SERP results more better but you want to focus both of your URL (40%) and keywords (60%) Naturally :D:p

I can't believe my ears, some of you think that you should linkbuild but go 100% raw anchor??? That's not natural looking either, folks. The exact mix will deffer from niche to niche, but the game will ALWAYS be a mix because that is how REAL earned links are. Not every editor who writes a blog will post the full URL. You need raw URL, URL variations, keywords, LSI, brand terms, and even generic keywords in some cases.

The day Google slaps every site that has keyword anchors is the day before they stop using backlinks as a metric.

    It is all niche related.
I have a niche, where 90% branded is perfectly normal, since some of the big players have been around for decades(were paper magazines before the internet), so people know them and cite like that. Do that in a different niche and you'll look ridiculous.

In most any other niche I am in, I ignore all "rules", like 40% this, 32.5% that... I just use what feels best. Like if it is in a post, would it be better to is the naked link, branded, or some linked word(may not even be the keyword I want: post is focusing on fertilized dirt, I may link soil). Just keep it as natural as possible, in the end, the goal is to get the google bot to your site, then let Google work their google-fu to figure out what my post is about.

You still have to go with the practice of diversifying your anchors. Do lots of variations (something like 20% main keyword, 50% domain (raw urls and variations), 20% brand, 10% generic like click here, visit site etc)

I've also found that having the main keyword (or very close lsi) in the actual Url linking to your page holds a lot more weight than a page without. As for anchors I usually just try to find every possible variation and use them all, then place a generic or brand for every f ew of them I create. Seems to work great. If you go too far into this shit you will get fucked up haha

I also think that exactly % of brand, keyword and other links depend on the niche.
