Do you think Google will control the world ?

Huge companies, huge empires have in history "ruled" the world, while these huge organizations might dictate at some points in time how humanity progressed and even function they where far from full control, it only takes a small shift for an empire to collapse and become dirt below your feet.

will control the world? they control what people learn, eat, buy or sell... they already control the world.

So if he who controls the past controls the future and he who controls the present controls the past, wouldn’t that equate to controlling the present controls the future and past.
 
Why everyone is thinking that GOOGLE was/is/will controlling the past/present/future?

I don't use GOOGLE (any GOOGLE product) at all. Gmail vs proton or tutanota mail, gdrive vs tresorit, docs & sheets vs libreoffice, google vs startpage, chrome vs firefox, android vs lineage, chromebook os vs linux, anything else?

(Learning linux arch in VMware)

There are many other/better products & services with good policies & security and one company can't and won't be able to control everything.

You personally may not be using google products but millions upon millions of people use atleast one google product.

I’d guess 1/3 people in the world are using google products, if not more.
 
Would be more concerned about Instagram controlling females.
 
Hmm, I am not sure. I think they are gradually evolving from a search engine to a knowledge base. I think eventually they will be a source of knowledge themselves, rather than a tool for searching public knowledge. As you know they are starting to show more and more information, answers and results from their own data rather than just showing you external web pages. I think they are finding this a more effective way of using their AI technology.

I think this will make them invaluable but they're not going so much down the route of manipulation and control because they're going to be someone you ask for information rather than some type of media outlet that controls access to public information.

I think as that begins to unfold more there will be other search engines pop up that provide the more traditional approach to data search and retrieval.

That's partly wishful thinking because I don't want to believe Google will control the world.
 
They already are, in a way. And they may in the future too.
But who knows, let's just wait and see.

No point in predicting something like this, really. :)
 
People are overlooking finance and fin-tech companies, they are the real controlling companies as they can cut off funding to any alternative to FB,Twitter, Youtube, etc.
 
The only thing google can control is penalizing your sites. What the problem if google knows that you ate today or just have a pimple on your ass? Not sure.
But such tools as facebook in bastard's professional hands gives much more possibilities to control people => world.
 
The future is clever technology no doubt but google is not only in the game there many others
