I wish it would, then i wouldn't have to work so hard correcting its mistakes! lol

It will not, but someone who is good at their skills and has access to AI tools will certainly beat a newbie coder with access to all the AI tools combined.

With any project, someone has to understand how it works. Otherwise there's no way you are going to maintain it in the long run. So yeah... AI will not kill coding.

Also think about it. If there was no code to read, AI wouldn't ever have understood how to code. When people stop sharing, AI won't have access to the latest versions of the SDK/Frameworks anymore. So, those tools won't be able to help with the latest versions anymore.

In the long run, this will be great for those who adapted.

I don't think AI will kill off coding - it's a tool that can help programmers but not a replacement, nor do I think it will be a true replacement in the future.

Someone also posted in this thread that they think AI will kill off designers and digital art, but I don't think it will do that either, for the same reason it wouldn't make programmers unnecessary. Being able to put thought into your coding and design is still needed at the end of the day to create art or code that accomplishes a specific task well, whereas AI-generated stuff is usually only good for filler and fluff. This is just my experience with it, though.

I don't think so.

ChatGPT and other AI tools are okay, but when I want to do complex tasks, it turns world upside down. After sometime, it tends to forget code, modify or make ton of mistakes.

So, IMHO. Coding is never dying out, just the way/approach is gonna change.

Besides, AI tends to make tons of mistakes regardless, somebody has to keep it in check )))

Not entirely but alot of devs are already losing their jobs. There's no need to have 1000 developers when a few skilled engineers using the right tech stack can do the job.

AI won't kill coding... but it will definitely change how we code. Instead of replacing programmers, AI is more likely to augment their abilities, automating repetitive tasks and making development faster and more efficient.

Is not something will happen immediately, you still need people that know what they are doing how to implement it right now is just making easy the work of everyone and companies are removing a few programmers because you can generate the same with a few clicks and less personal but still need coders if it will happen still a far future from us right now.

A simple interaction with AI shows that it will never master context, it will never have the artistic touch/randomness or numerous other attributes that separate man from machine. They will never be able to code that into AI, and as such, it will never replace humans/coding completely.

Have you tried to have AI make anything complex or so several things at once? Usually it's worse than what could have been made. Coding can also be very creative and AI just can't do that.

Maybe coding will be like playing game.

Do you think AI will kill coding?
Eventually yes. The models are becoming more and more complex and eventually they will become very good and understanding and executing with less and less input. I really think that if not not 90% of programmers will remain without jobs.

UI designers and front end will go away first in a few years. Nothing is sure yet, but at the current rate of progress of AI, coding does look like its in danger. And im a developer that uses AI to code on the daily.

I don't think so that coding will be completely killed by AI. Yes it will change the way if it and everything gets Evolved with the time being.

It might not kill it 100%. But in a few years and beyond that it will get closer and closer to that 100%.

I think it will kill simple coding and very small scripts and programs.... i make python scripts with deepseek and chatgpt almost weekly (uploaders, generator for mass articles and even images and all kinds of stuf) that others would ask $100+ for it or even close to 400-500$ on freelance sites ... Maybe in 3-5 years AI will be able to make a very complex code from top to bottom..we'll find out soon.

Currently, the coding ability of AI ranks 50th among all human beings. How long do you think it will take for it to reach the first place? Coding is one of the fields where AI excels the most.
