AI is not going to get the big picture and the attention to detail the way a human could. But AI could make it easier for more people to create software faster and easier and will make individual software engineers more production. But the lower barrier to entry and higher productivity will mean that a lot more software will be created and would need to compete on the market. Will there be enough demand for it? Most likely yes though some stubborn or low quality coders might find themselves out of a job and behind the times. There will be disruptions, but creating software will remain an activity many humans will be involved in and many will continue to make a living doing so.

Yes, at least in it's current form. Innovation will still come from people; but the creation most definitely will not.

No it cant, I believe you still need some knowledge to code with AI.

it's like saying giving birth to a baby will kill humanity. There's no way it kill coding, when it's created by coding in the first place. The skill may become better but it still need someone to control it, train it, and improve into it. If you think anyone with ai = can code no matter how good the ai become than you're overestimating general population.

I'm a programmer and AI makes me faster but if you give AI to my mom and ask her to build you a web application or something, I don't think she'll be able to, because this industry still has a lot of jargon and when you're deep down, you may think it's so easy to connect a database to a php website etc...
but for some people it's almost impossible or just understanding what an api key is for exemple... so yes I think it's going to make a lot of developers faster but not better. I don't know if this is the case, but I have a feeling there's a problem with chatgpt.

o1 is crap against claude
They made that model more stupid than previous.
But the rest is great point. If you leave AI without control it will make such spagetti mess you will never find out what's happening.
for 10 code changes / 5 are rejects for me and I need to force AI
to use node.js because it want to put php

I believe AI is gonna help us code better, not replace us.
In my case, it helps me with the basics, and then I finish it off, especially with the craziness of everyday life. When I have time, I write from scratch to finish, but I really like using AI to help me out; it makes my work easier.
And who created AI? Another AI?
Also, AI doesn’t know how to do hacks (this part is just a joke, hope it made you laugh).

AI is here to help, speed processes up, automatize boring stuff and make things easier...people need to change this mindset that AI is here to fully replace everything, for now and for the next few years, you can't give AI the full job to be done without human interference. Also, humans can create new coding languages that will take some time until AI fully dominates

The future is agents.
Designers will go away first. art is ahead of logical coding by a mile.
Low end coders will go away first, I can get results better from AI than when I outsource. Takes me as long to just do it now than hiring someone.
Sysadmin will likely go away as blue team agents will live on the server and red team agents will attempt to get in.
High end developers will morph from SaaS to agent dev which is basically doing the same thing only smarter and more productive.
The ladies will get hit the hardest. 2/3 college graduates are women who mostly have bs degrees and fluffy jobs that are easily replaceable.
