They don’t boost ranking directly, but they help search engines know what you want them to crawl. That means:
  • Faster indexing
  • Less orphaned pages
  • Better control of your site’s structure
For anyone building out big sites or testing new projects, submitting a solid sitemap can save a lot of crawling headaches. Nothing fancy, just clean execution.

I haven't bothered with sitemaps for years. Having a site that's easy to navigate for both bots and humans is just good practice. Neither should have to look hard to find their way around your site.

Cant hurt to add it right might as well help them crawl a little easier

A sitemap won’t hand you rankings, but it acts like a roadmap for crawlers. It helps bots find fresh pages faster, keeps key URLs from getting lost, and gives structure to big builds. For anyone scaling or testing sites, a clean sitemap is less about “SEO hacks” and more about removing crawl friction.

Obviously. Yes .. that's a no brainer. It helps google identity what pages are there. How are you planning to tell google that you have a website and it has a ton of pages that you want google to index?

Nowadays, the navigation process is usually solved much more
elegantly, but the sitemap is still justified. For one thing,
having this additional navigation tool can increase user-
friendliness, and for another, search engines make use of these files

Yes, I still make them. They help new pages get indexed faster and keep everything organized, especially on large sites.

I still create sitemaps for most of my projects. They don’t help with rankings directly, but they make indexing faster and keep things organized. Especially useful for bigger sites.

Exactly, a clean sitemap won’t boost rankings directly, but it helps search engines crawl and index your pages faster, especially for large or growing sites.

Let me pretend that Yes, I create sitemaps for my projects

Imagine being in 100 floor building with 1000s of rooms and no sign where's where. I guess google would be a bit upset too
