With all the negativity on the news, I’m wondering why people still read news.
I lose hope when I read the news because most of what they report are killings and other bad stuffs. Less of what’s educative or inspiring.

So, with all these negativity why do you still read the news?

if you're from india, you can read this - https://www.thebetterindia.com/

They report positive news

Yes, I still consider it as a reliable source of information.

It's called a negativity bias - people tend to be more interested in negative situations. Negative news attracts more attention -> more readers, more shares, likes and comments.

I am not watching TV / news for over 10 years and I believe that if something important will happen other people will tell me

I read mostly sports though in every morning

I don't follow mainstream news.
It's funny how people talk to me like "What do you think about the ABC incident on the news?". They were anticipating and ready to share more of their opinion after I share mine. But I just told them I don't know about it and usually I can see a weird expression, somewhat disappointed on their face.
They never expect to be talking to someone who lives under a rock (from their point of view).

I check RealClearPolitics and RealClearWorld pretty frequently

Yea, lot's of bullshits happening for the past 5 years now... people becoming normal while claiming it's good and we should all accept abnormality...

Sad those are the only 'positive' news you get.

No. I try not to fill my head with garbage. Unless I'm desperate enough to ask a question for Quora PP.

are those real websites?

Yep, focused mainly on politics. RealClearWorld is just interesting world politics articles, RealClearPolitics is US politics that usually gives two completely opposing viewpoints to a single issue.

I stopped watching political talkshows and news on TV because it gets me super mad about how incompetent these fuckheads are. I still read every day online news and it raises my blood levels but not as much as when I have to hear those fuckheads talk. I want to torture them until they die slowly...

I'm torn between wanting to know what's going on in the world and dealing with similar feelings to you.

On one of Joe Rogan's podcasts recently he made a good point that he thinks a contributing factor to the rise in depression and anxiety, particularly in the West, can be attributed to fact that we have at our finger tips instant knowledge when anything bad happens in the world and then the human brain just isn't designed/equip to process and deal with this constantly.

Why read the news? Same tragedies with different villains.
This will end the moment we get rid of politicians for good.

Stopped watching the news a while back. There is nothing but frustrating stories and a lot of BS. The term fake news exists for a reason. If something significant happens, you'll hear it from someone.

No.

The news makes me angry/depressed.

I watch surf and fishing programs instead.

I've not been checking the news for ages, but most of my friends do and they let me know about the important ones.

Never feel the need to check it out.
