Do you provide upfront pricing for your services

    Do you find listing upfront pricing on your website converts higher than providing custom pricing per client? I provide web hosting for some clients and I am debating if I should offer upfront pricing on my website, say $X a month and this is what you get, or quote them based on their needs?

    The same can be applied to website design and creation. I normally offer a custom solution to fit each client, but am thinking about offering a base package at a fixed price.

    What are you experiences?

    Do a split test and see what does best for your service. Never tried it but I read somewhere here that not providing price upfront is better.

    Show them the price upfront but make sure you mark the price up a little bit. Then give some promotional codes or discounts. ;)

    I advice you to do both. Have fixed prices on your site, and install a livechat program called Zopim on your hosting website. When people come online, you can talk to them and ask them what they need. They often ask for discounts and it really helps giving it to them. Hope this helps. Goodluck!

    offer packages with fixed items but state that custom packages can be offered

    I think I am going to do this. I'm going to try offering a cheap entry level package with a set price and show them a custom package to fit their needs with a "request quote".

    For hosting.. It must be exposed on website whereas for design or development tasks you should quote differently as per the clients requirements.

    In my opinion, place upfront pricing cause if your clients have contact between themselves and they discover you charging different prices to different clients you may ran into serious questions. No problem if they don't know about it. :)

    I never give up front pricing and have made thousands more because of it. I'm definitely no sales man, but there's really no art to listening to someone's needs, asking them what they budget is, and giving them an offer they are likely to accept based off your conversation. Putting your prices on your website for your services removes all of the opportunities that arise from prospective clients who contact you because they want to know what you charge... And honestly, those are the majority of deals that I close. Sometimes you might sell yourself short cause you need the cash, but sometimes you can feel it out and charge an arm and a leg because it's industry standard and they just happen to have the money. All I can say is your missing out on easy money by offering flat rates on your website. My 2ยข

    Upfront pricing has been working very well for some of our sites. Most often if we don't provide you receive alot of inquiries but only little orders..!

    I'd advise both. Offer priced packages for what people would basically need. Then mention the additional stuff you can do on top of that and get them to contact you for an individual quote.
