Do you prefer homepage links or contextual links in guest posts?

Homepage links are suitable for big brands towards brand awareness and homepage links can boost overall domain authority.
However, I prefer contextual links for blogs, because contextual links have a natural appearance, thereby providing higher value and passing better authority to specific pages (as also hinted by a few more members in this thread).

Contextual links are safer and more effective they blend naturally in content, improve relevance, and pass better SEO value.
Homepage links can support diversity/branding, but overusing them looks unnatural, mix both with focus on contextual placements.

While working on guest posting campaigns, I’ve noticed different opinions about this. Some people prefer homepage links because they help increase overall domain authority, while others prefer contextual links inside articles since they look more natural and relevant to the content.

From my experience, contextual links inside niche-related content often feel more stable and natural.

Just sharing a thought from outreach work. Curious what others here usually prefer when building links.
Contextual links are the king because Google "understands" them better and ranks them according to your niche and to the niche that the backlinks are from.

Contextual links within relevant content are much better and they look natural, pass more topical relevance, and tend to be safer long term than homepage links.

I usually go with contextual links when they fit naturally into the article. They tend to provide more value to reader and are often more relevant to the page being promoted. I ony use homepage links when the goal is to introduce the brand rather than highlight a specific piece of content.

If i am going for guest post and spending money for it, i will always go for contextual from a very niche relevant post.

Why not both :D

You are going to get more stability with a link on the homepage as that will tend to attract the majority of links, and if a homepage isn't indexed then it's likely the rest of the site will not be worth anything.
