Do you post comments on your own site? i got a site that's pretty new and i want to make it look more aged by adding comments to my articles.


How do you do it? Do you use a proxy for each individual comment or do you just add comments on your own ip while making sure the user name of the fake comment is different.

Also is a it a good idea to just edit the spam comments that akismet hides and approve them?

I'm assuming it's WordPress, if you are commenting yourself make sure to log out and in again as a different user otherwise it will auto assume you are the same commenter and use the old name.

I don't see a problem with editing akismet comments

Just make fake account in your wordpress and logout and login with fake account and post comments

Rinse and repeat
 
I used to do this before I disabled comments across all of my websites. Something else I would do was edit the spam comments to make them look genuine by removing any links or spammy keywords from the comments before I posted them.
 
When I ran a WordPress blog, I used the twiogle plugin to pull in context-related tweets as comments. I also used PaidForumPosting. Both are great resources, however, PaidForumPosting is on the J-O-B.

My blog's topic was outsourcing and the posters struggled with content creation. Outsourcing is pretty damned boring after all. I was relaxed about what they provided, but the company's manager wouldn't have it and made sure I got the exact number of posts that I asked for.
 
just comment while logged out
externals can't see which ip was used for commenting and for you it shouldnt matter
obviously mix the time stamps and names up

edit: just an idea
make a comment as your competitor with a link back to their site
and in their comment add:
"wow, your site is better than mine dude" OR "you deserve better rankings than I do" OR "thank you for teaching me how to do {something fundamental|noob stuff}"
OR "Whatever humialiting you can think of"

They might see the link back, and become furiated
They migh tmake a post about you what an A Class Hole you are and give you a link back

PS: I've never done this before, but to me sounds like a good idea

of course you can do it !

Looks more "natural" besides I think 99% reviews on sites from satisfied customers are like self written from admins :D
 
There is great plugin I use to do this much faster, its called wordpress hype generator.

That's a brilliant idea you have there! I would be interested in testing this out myself just to see the results. :)
 
You should start a skype group for commenting each others blog, it will be help :)
 
Most of my wp sites have at least 5 users, so whenever i get a real comment..
I respond to it and make it look good for the other visitors...

on the other side..
You get loads of spam comments in wp, Just modify it and update :)

i have Disqus plugin installed on my wordpress, it looks very natural. then i buy fiver gigs to make comments. they are using different profiles to create positive comments
 
It should be fine until you pull out some dickhead who'll want to sue you for impersonating them :D
Of course with this you're doing nothing illegal.

Edit:

I'm not sure if spamming blog comments et al as your competitor with scrapebox/xrumer/gsa ser would do you any good:D
I mean you would obviously make them look like an amateur spammer XD
They might get a lot of hot attention from angry gay g00g13 worshippers

Oh yes, I suppose it could even be considered defamation of character. Although, you could easily just pose as a regular visitor who says, "I'm glad I found this article! The article on www.competitorswebsite.com was complete rubbish and unhelpful".
 
Thanks lads. And any lasses. Got all i needed, that plug in is very handy. Not needed for now but i will use that when i have multiple sites
 
Yeah. And that's as far as negative seo of competitors should go, except for redirecting penalised domains at their site.
Doing too much negative reputation spam on them will backfire I think.
Like there was a thread here some time ago about Matthew Woodward, how he was such and such a person.
Later Woodward reported crap load of visitors thanks to that negative thread.
So use it with care
