Do you play Poker?

This is probably a downside, but making good money online and having free time makes me want to play more Poker.

Just wondering if anybody is in the same boat and finds themselves playing?

I used to play poker online, i dont do it anymore because until i have any money on betting platform i cannot focus on other stuff at all until i spend last penny that i deposited :D

I used to be a full time player, and it was a blast, I made good money. Do I suggest it? It depends.

If you want to earn any meaningful amount of money, you have to put in an obscene amount of time and energy to learn and analyze hands, tendencies, GTO, etc. You have to live and breath poker if you want to be a pro now.

As hobby on smaller stakes? Go ahead, those are still easy to beat and it's entertaining. Reaching an 5$ hourly rate with poker is still not rocket science.

To be perfectly honest, I don't think I want to play it full time. I make a profit when sober - lose it when drinking alcohol haha. But I know that's why I lose, so I don't beat myself over it too much.

I need to get used to the bad beats, that's my main fault. You go in with AA and someone actually calls with a 72o and wins. No apology, nothing. That's the bit about Poker I dislike.
 
Play for fun not for profit. I do not gamble with casinos online, much better experience in an actual casino. Free drinks and a fun atmosphere. There have been times where I end up at the tables all night/day. Once you get a good buzz going and get into it, its really fun.

Gambling is bad though, really bad. Look at is as entertainment and not a business.

I see it as paying for the entertainment, so if I was to bet say £100 and lose it over the course of a few hours, I'm paying for the game. I can eat/drink more than that on a night out over the weekend.

I know what you mean though. I know people who lose money and go back to try and win it back. That's then the problems start.
 
I used to be addicted to 5 card video poker in the casino. It's legal crack.

same, I can have pretty good win rate and profit, but one tilt and it's all gone
 
played online for a few years then discovered playing in real life is so much easier

now I only play in the local cash games at the casino, $1/$2 NLH.
 
Only few times in a year but not for money. With friends for fun
 
i used to play on bovada, don't anymore, just local card rooms.
 
I used to play poker quite seriously, but If you want to make money from it, you have to spend a lot of time for learning and for playing, so I decided to learn something that is more stable.
 
Sometimes with a few friends, it's a fun way to spend an afternoon
 
Just can't bring myself to trust the online shit. Playing live is where it's at for me.

Exactly why I quit lol. I tried my hand in $1/$2 before and cleaned up really nicely. I decided to go again the next day, and had nothing but bad luck even with monster hands. Lost my earnings from the previous and then some. I'd play again for fun, but maybe buy-in with $100, nothing serious.
 
I don't really like to play poker online, but it's really fun to play with friends on weekends or just watch big poker events!
 
Very interesting topic for discussion, I was familiar with one person, he is a professional poker player, he earned very well, but I could not understand how this can make money and not lose, who can advise a good honest service with a high number of real players, because the adrenaline in this game is off the scale and well assessing the risks, you can really earn
