I don't think people would mind paying taxes if they actually saw value for their money, the fact is we do not. What we do see however is a bunch of arrogant millionaires who call themselves government spending it all with their private enterprise friends.

You "don't see any value" in them, because you're taking everything around you for granted.
Everything around me wasn't supplied by government. Let me know when the government gets into building iPhones, computers and TV's etc. The social services it provides are not economically viable, and most likely could be supplied by the free market at a much more competitive cost, one that doesn't rip off the poor.
It's not income taxes that hurt the poor the most, it's stealth taxes in the form of fuel duty and consumption related taxes since the poor have no choice but to spend their entire pay check without going into debt. This also tolls in with my comment about wage slavery above, a vast majority of the population are not being paid a living wage. Yet the incomes for the richest 1% have been continuing to soar. This is because taxes for collective interest and dividends, aka unearned income is extremely low.

Wouldn't people just go to countries such as Bulgaria if taxes are raised on dividends? I really cannot understand why France is pushing a 75% tax when someone from France can easily move to Bulgaria and lower their income tax to no more then 10%.

It 's just a marketing ploy for the masses. The actual number of people who get affected by this law is ~1.500 so the gains will be about a hundred million - which is nothing as a % on taxes collected in France (they were being taxed before of course so we 're talking about the difference).

You realize that no direct tax is more capitalistic than the USA got right now ?The system right now is socialism and not capitalism.But to share with the poor people majority got no issues.Where the issues come is that only a small part is being used for poor people and for the infrastructure.The rest is being used to take it from the productiv citizens to the rich ones who owns the US debt. .

People saying that they pay taxes "for nothing" should remember this clever statement the next time there's a fire but oops there no FD around, since you avoided to pay taxes for "nothing"... What about a riot in the neighborhood or your apartment gets robbed? No police to complain to: they use to drink and eat like everybody else, but you were too smart to pay taxes, right? And, if you're living basically anywhere a part from the US, next time you need to go to the hospital, hope you'll enjoy a big fat fee or a killing monthly insurance policy recurring, since, you know, you pay taxes for "nothing"... Oh and now let's wait for some rhetorical speech to appease you conscience...
FD around here is all volunteers. The tax mainly goes to buying new vehicles... oh wait, they're still using trucks from the 60s.
Riot or break in? Police around here don't give a flying fuck. We've called them before, all they do is show up and say "yup yup... yup okay" and drive off. No report or anything is written up. They sure as hell can buy Chargers every other day though.
Hospital is the only thing that really does work off of tax money around here, but wait! Obama care allows everyone to get free healthcare whether they pay taxes or not. So those that do pay taxes are paying for the illegals, the leeches and other bottom barrel people as well.

Sorry for arguing with you BlueTurte. I didn't mean anything I said, I often just get caught up in the moment. The fact of the matter is I'm not anti-millionaire or a socialist. But I disagree that everybody who's a millionaire deserves to be one, there's a lot of crime and corruption that exists and it's often not a level playing field. That was what I was really trying to get you to see.
Anyway, I'm going to retire from this thread.

I sell a website for 22k USD. I move up a tax bracket and have some self employment. I then owe 8k to the govt. Yes I paid it. Other countries would be worse but in the US land of the "free" I get fucked over with this kind of tax payment. So I need to find a way to better exploit people and put my money offshore or change citizenship.
