How do you over calm it?

I do not have OCD, although I've known a few people who were diagnosed with it. However, I do not like discussing the topic much because it reminds me of a time back in high school when everyone thought they had OCD (although none of them were diagnosed). They called any slight movement that may or may not have been repetitive "OCD" (e.g., accidentally dropping a pencil twice in one sitting) and they had these ridiculous phrases regarding OCD such as:

  • That's, like, so OCD!
  • Whoa man, I just had an OCD moment.
  • You're so OCDing.
Meanwhile, they were making a serious disorder that some people have to deal with look like a joke, so nobody took the people who really had the disorder seriously. It was unfortunate for the people who were diagnosed since even when their disorder became a fad, they were still thought of as eccentric.

Sort of ... I mean when I go out, every 10 minutes I check my pockets if my keys are there, wallet and phone :D

I do have one friend who suffers from OCD. She also has had to deal with people acting as if her illness was just her being quirky or eccentric. So many people use the term "ocd" to describe people who just like being neat or have their own method of doing things. It is hard for people truly living with a debilitating disease to be taken seriously. She has gotten better after years of extensive treatment but it is still hard for her to do some things that most of us would consider common place.

Me, my friend have a similar problem.

Kinda "syndrome of perfection".

For me, I have a plan about my project and life. What i'm doing now, tomorrow, and for the future.

I need to keep rethinking about my plan again.. and again.. and again.. Because, if I not thinking about it, I feel I just missing "something".

And it feel really uncomfortable. For that, I need to re-thinking it again.
And it will make me feel a little bit better.

But after 5-10 minutes the "uncomfortable" missing feeling will pop-up again. And .. repeat the process.

Till I meditate and be "nothing". It will gone. <-- The hardest part.

i kinda have this to. For example after i finished an exam i keep rethinking what i may have done wrong. Because of this i can't concetrate me anymore.

Therapy man! No internet videos, no easy fixes. Improve yourself, get to know yourself and find a good psychotherapist.

I can over calm my OCD after watching the video.

Don't react to it by...

- Do not try to stop your thought
- Do not try having conversation or argument with your thought
- Do not try to explain to your thought
- Do not try to replace it with another

Just watch the thought come and go, similar like you watch the train come and go, without trying to stop it, or trying to climb through it.

Overall this sound like you doing a meditation.

I don't say I have OCD, but who knows.. someone said I seem autistic. I don't really care, just like a rottweiler is not the same as a chow chow we are all different.
Try to find other interests / obsessions. Many! Productive ones... good things. you need to become double busy so that u that u will drop dead asleep at night from exaustion.

Also try to change the enviornment completely, new job, move house, change everything. I mean go to afghanistan or somewhere strange for 2 months. That can really clear things up for a while in my situation.

PS: I have similar problem and these things help although don't stop it.

I've cured my own OCD.
OCD normally comes with fear of loss and poor memory.

fear of loss > "things done" prompted by poor memory = OCD

Treatment part 1:
Allow yourself to check if the thing or action is done ONCE at a scene.
Meaning you feed the OCD monster with a cookie only once at a scene.

if OCD monster fed = ONCE then
No more cookie for you, you naughty OCD monster
end if

Leave the scene remembering that the OCD monster has been fed.

After you are comfortable with treatment part 1, proceed to treatment part 2.

Treatment part 2:
Send the word DONE to your brain once the action is completed.
Try yourself with this formula:

DONE = LEAVE THE SCENE FAST, DON'T LOOK BACK, THINGS DONE!!!

It works. :) Hope it helps somebody.

Most people pretend they have OCD. Real OCD is when you literally believe if you dont spit on the ground, you whole family will die or something severe like that. Everything else is just wannabe OCD ..

I think I had slight hints of OCD when I was younger but I have out grown that.

Probably was just some weird kid thing lol

Why would someone want to be OCD?
I will say I have obsessive compulsive issues/habits. However I never said to anyone in my life I have OCD or any medical condition and I don't know what the hell OCD is to be true, but I posted on here cus I can relate to it. I enjoy to spit on the ground.

Maybe OP has OCD in a different level or form. Anyway post a photo of your medical cert and I will believe your statement.

I actually do have OCD and I can tell you it fucking sucks. My OCD is spiritual, so if I don't perform my "rituals" I believe something will happen to my spirit/soul.
