Do you need to stick with one keyword per page?

Hi all,

Some time ago I started building links with a particular keyword to the landing page of a site. Then I decided to do linkbuilding to a subpage as well. As it happens that same keyword seemed most appropriate. So now there are backlinks to both pages, with the same keyword. Is this a bad idea? Am I competing with myself here or could it be a good thing, as in appearing twice in the top 5 on google?

Its actually a pretty good idea to send same keywords to different pages, its all part of the link diversity that search engines look for.

As for building 1 page for a select keyword then i would agree. I tend to rank 1 keyword per page but then after its been up a few months i then target a couple more very similar keywords to the same page as well

Yeah, usually i will do 1 keyword per page and when that page reach the top of the SERPs i will add a few more long tail keywords in that page to increase the traffic.

I personally target multiple keywords per page. and a lot of times there is overlap

See, a webpage cannot appear twice on a search result, But two webpages from same site cn appear twice.

This is certainly not a bad idea... Infact it is advised to do linkbuilding to internal pages to improve the overall reputation of the website.

Yeah. im targeting each page with one keyword only. that way i could easily track which is which im gonna boost. but it is not that bad if you'll have at leat 2-3 keywords per page.
