Not sure you have the process right... you USE those properties to monetize another site usually.

If you are planning it well, you can monetize some sites even just to break up the pattern of supporting websites. However, make sure you are monetizing in a way that doesn't give out critical info, especially Adsense! Other big networks are also risky. Just don't make it a priority when building and maintaining the monetized website to make money off that, it's just a bonus and it may give some other benefits as well.

Not really, but if you have good quality tier 1s that have quality content then no harm in monetizing them as well.

Never have tried this actually, I use it just to pump link juice to my money sites like i'm sure many people do
