Another weekend, and I’ve been thinking about how different traders review their week.

After a series of trades, I usually try to step back and reassess what actually happened , not just the outcomes, but the decisions behind them. That said, I’m curious how others approach this.
Do you actively journal your trades, or do you prefer to disconnect and come back fresh for the new week?

For those who journal:
  • What exactly do you track? (entries, psychology, market structure, etc.)
  • How do you review your past trades in a way that actually improves your next entries?
  • How do you identify what specifically needs to be corrected without overcomplicating things?

And for those who don’t journal, what’s your way of resetting and staying consistent week to week?
Just trying to understand different approaches and see what works best over time.

I always focus on consistency in trading, so most of my trades tend to follow similar patterns there’s not much need for extensive record-keeping.

Journaling saved me early on by showing my repetitive mistakes. I tracked the date, asset, entry time, position size, and my mental state. I review it every weekend.
A strategy is a mix of your traing system, the rules of entering|exiting the position, risk and money management, and psychology.
Most often, the problem is not the strategy - they are many of them available - but how you execute it. For me, risk management is usually where I mess up. That is what needs to be worked on.

Yes, I journal and not just for trading but life. It creates data points and you can recognize patterns
that can be self destructive etc.
