Do you install AV/Firewall in your VPS?

Well, I have 3 VPSs now.

2 of them have at least 5GB ram, while the 3rd only has about 1.5GB.
Because of its high RAM, I could afford to install ESET Smart Security on the first 2 VPS.

Unfortunately, for the 3rd, I realize it's quite laggy when I run ScrapeJet with Eset OR GSA with Eset.
So I was wondering whether to uninstall it and just install Eset Antivirus instead of the whole smart security bundle.

And what about you guys? Do you install AV/Firewalls in your VPSs?

well my VPS got hacked recently, so this is great question. I have installed AVG antivirus/security business edition because I didn't want to go for ESET due to insufficient resources in the server. it would be nice to hear how people are tightening their security in their VPS.

I use Microsoft Security Essentials on my VPS servers and never had any problems till now.

yeap... Microsoft Security Essentials here and it is free /w daily updates, running on a 2Gb ram VPS with rooms to spare.

Yes, I would use Microsoft Security Essentials, it does a great job and it's fairly lightweight on RAM.

LoL.
That's the problem...

I usually use Eset Smart Security for all my VPS security, problem is the firewall is really... wtf.
It can sometimes block me out from Teamviewer without warning.
Not just that, it pops so many notifications that I have a hard time closing them... hundreds of notifications!

By the way, to those whom are using Microsoft Security Essentials for their VPS...
Does it has an integrated firewall?

Or do you use MSE WITH Windows Firewall?

Whilst ESET NOD32 (their AV product) is consistently rated very highly in AV testing ESET Firewall consistently performs very poorly - so yes I would do that. I know this might sound odd but there you go. In fact very few "security suites" (AV + FW + antimalware + God knows) are strong in all areas. Kaspersky Suite is the only one I'd consider but other than that you're better off going with seperate solutions.

Also as already suggested MSSE (free AV from MS) is a good choice: it also consistently performs very highly in testing but is far lighter on resource usage and false positives.

Also just so you know: AVG is terrible.
