Anyone uses business card to their advantage? I was thinking of keeping a set of business card linked to my site offering SEO or other IM related services.

So whenever I visit some place or if someone asks me what I do I can just hand them my business card. I guess that would help me to build my brand and get clients

I was just thinking over it and so thought to ask here if anyone has their business cards printed out..I think it is a must for all IMers(Even Non Offliners) to have a business card with them ...Dont u think?

Great topic ssd1234,

I agree that having business cards is a must, even if the majority of a business person's networking is done online. If you attend industry events or even if you are just out and about, it's a good idea to have a business card. A good strategy is to have a QR code printed on the back that links to your website or even a specific landing page for potential prospects. People also look unprofessional when they start saying they do this business or that and then don't have a card to hand out.

Check out this offer from about.me where they give you a bunch of free business cards with QR codes on them for free for signing up,

VistaPrint also has a deal for free cards (just pay shipping). These ones are a little flimsy but I guess you get what you pay for.

Great thread!

Totally agree with that. I have faced it myself and instead of explaining them what you do its better to just handover your card so they would refer your site if they are really interested to know more

I always have a business card on me (old habit from my days in medical equipment sales). In fact, I usually have a stack of them. On the back I have a QR code that puts all of my contact info into the person's phone. The easier you make it for them to call you, the more likely they will. I use Vistaprint and pay for the premium cards and other extras like uploading your logo, etc. I think it came out to less than $30 with shipping. It's an invaluable investment in your business.

I think you must have business cards. But it is not enough just to give your business card if someone ask what you do. Of course you may seem much more confident and make good expression BUT people nowadays are lazy and don't want to read. If they are really interested they may give up. It is easier to convince someone talking about your business for 2 or 3 minutes than make him reading about it on your site.

Allways have a card, get as nice as you can afford, just your name number and email.

I have a nondescript but very memorable url for my email that can be memorised on first hearing it.

I have landed some of my bigest deals of my life while out to lunch :)

My opinion, cards are worth well more than their owm weight in gold.

Due to the simple and low cost nature of having business cards I would recommend everyone having some on them at all times. You never know when you will meet someone who may be interested in your services and I wouldn't want anyone to lose business for the simple reason of not having a professional way to share contact details!
