when you upload a video to different video sites, do you have to "spin" the file? change it a bit and resave each time to avoid duplicate content or is it okay to upload the same file to each video site?

If you are referring, for example - you have 1 single video file, and you want to add it to Youtuve, Vimeo, Metacafe, etc. NO, you do not need to spin your video. After all, these websites are not owned by the same people. (Believe it or not, Google has not taken this site yet) /Facepalm

Hope that cleared it up. ^^

But the video you uploaded to Metacafe would not affect the YouTube video.

i should have been more specific. what i mean is, in the eye of google. will google be able to see that the same video file was uploaded to both youtube and vemio and the others? do they even look at that?
everyone says it will help if you rename your file to your keyword before uploading, which tells me google does look at the upload file which is why i am asking.

i want to use those other video sites to serve as backlinks to my youtube video in order to help with its google ranking. the alternative is make a simple slideshow video and use some kind of video spinner to upload it to the different secondary video sites.

I think if you are using videos as backlink purpose then i would suggest you to use unique title, description per site.

I doubt Google now looks for duplicate video's, however it wouldn't be hard. They could easily look at the duration, then look at what image is at a bunch of random intervals, and voila.

I actually spin all images I use. I play with the colours, where it's cropped, sometimes flip it, usually distort it and add a border of sorts. Google no longer recognizes the images when they're dropped into its Image Search, and to me, I believe this is helping me be seen as having 'unique' content, as I also have unique images.
