Do You Have To Be From US for .US Domains WTF?

I learnt a ton about domains and domaining before I found this amazing place...

Trying to register a .us and the registrar wont let me unless I create a statement declaring I am from the US?

WTF is this about I always heard it was ok to own from countries you dont live in...

No its not.

I believe that you cant register .eu if you dont live in it too.

I was looking at that just yesterday. can't see them pulling back the domain
if you give em aload of BS though.

I just grabbed the .eu instead but p1ssed because IMHO .us is far more valuable.

Surprised at this because I have heard of ppl for years buying domains when they arent residents.

I think .us has become hot as all others I dont seem to get asked.

I just got facebookprofiles.us and i'm in the uk just said I do leagal business in the US.
Looks like it's open season guys!

just go to godaddy and register one

I'm from Canada and i bought a .us domain a few weeks ago

I used to have a .us too and I aint from USA .
