I have been thinking of joining SlideShare for a few days now and done some research on it and I like it. Now, I want to ask BHW to give their thoughts, advice and experience.

1. Is it as good as they say?
2. Can I get a lot of traffic to my site from it?
3. Do they allow affiliate links?
4. How long should a PDF be?
5. Can I convert some of my older blog posts into PDF's and upload them?
6. Is there anything else I should know?

All feedback is appreciated.

No one uses SlideShare?

It helps, I always see them on top 3 pages for competitive keywords, will help as good backlink and good for some traffic. For your other questions your guess just as good as mine, I wouldnt put too much thought into it, just do it.

It depends on your niche and quality of your slides. I've seen great success in marketing/wordpress/design niches..

Hi @bihguy

1. Is it as good as they say?

SladeShare is known as the world's largest community for sharing presentations and, according to Forbes.com, "has also been referred to as ‘the world's largest professional content sharing community." So that can be a great platform to promote your content on.

2. Can I get a lot of traffic to my site from it?

Sure. The only thing is you need to do is to make a KILLER presentation and promote it the right way.
You can share your deck on various social networks, your website or blog, etc. The more views your slides get, the more chances you have to push it to the top ranking lists. And once your presentation gets there, the flow of new visitors to your site will increase manifold!

3. Do they allow affiliate links?

No, they don't.

4. How long should a PDF be?

You may find this info in their ToS. But the most important thing here is that your presentation shouldn't be long to bore readers. The recommended # of slides is 30-50 maximum.

5. Can I convert some of my older blog posts into PDF's and upload them?

Sure. Providing your old posts contain up-to-date information and can be beneficial and useful to reader, you may convert them PDF's and upload to SlideShare.

6. Is there anything else I should know?

Here: http://webmeup.com/blog/5-steps-to-preparing-an-awesome-slideshare-presentation.html
you can find more info on how to use this content management platform the right way.

Hope you find these tips useful.

Last few days I was testing slideshare traffic. I got about 4k views to my all slides and not a single click to my website. I do not understand if slideshare users are so smart or all those views are fake. My presentations are pretty OK

Slideshare was great until they made the first 4 pages unclickable.

That's not entirely true, only the first 3 pages are unclickable, the 4th goes!

And generally Slideshare is a good way to get traffic and also making some money by using only a file on slideshare with affiliate links in it.
And I'm still having a passive income after 3 years from ONE file now, even though not much money, but still ...
