I've been searching for dedicated residential proxies. There seems to be hardly any providers for them. That made me wonder whether other people - apart from me - need dedicated residential proxies. If you happened to need them, may I ask for what purpose?

Some websites can detect mobile/datacenter IPs.

Sure, but wouldn't, for example, rotating residential proxies do? Would you specifically need your proxy to be dedicated, with more or less static IP address?

Dedicated = unlimited traffic (ex:viewbot), residential = charged per GB (usually).

Also for people who don't have a need for a rotating IP. (IE: website detects IP changes and punishes)

You will almost never find true dedicated residential proxies. Unless you open up several cable lines. As mentioned its all based on usage around a pool. Residential connections are shared so one host is never on for an extended period of time.

You can find them, but they will be costly because someone is renting out an actual cable lease for a residential IP and renting it to you.

Or they are blackhat and do it from a botnet. Without the host knowing.

Yes, I was referring to residential IP addresses with unlimited data usage.

True, some websites do detect IP changes. That's why I need as static addresses as possible as well.

Yes, it's not easy to start a business like that. I was thinking of opening several mobile connections with unlimited data usage, which would, as far as I understand, be practically the same as opening cable lines - from the user's perspective, that is.

Yes and no

Mobile IP's are classified differently than residential IP's they both have its use. Social media runs better on mobile, while some other things will run better on residential or be more cost efficient.

Could you advice me on the specific use cases of pure residential vs. mobile IP addresses? What can be done using a pure residential IP address that cannot be done using a mobile IP address? Both of them survive blocking efforts by such services as IP2Proxy or MaxMind.

For me it can be use for botted site, they only accept residential ip

That's a valid use case for sure. Do you need a static - or as static as possible - IP address or do rotating IP addresses work for you as well?

Dedicated residential IP business is hard business to scale.
Expenses are big, there is risk of criminal charges, because let's face it, people need such things to create fake identities, or even worse use stolen ones.
Now, realistic final cost might be at least $100/ month , and people who can afford it, really have something to hide, which is a legal risk nobody sane wants.
Rotating IPs come from botnets and "free" services like HOLA.

This is a very balancing comment! One question, though: Don't all hosting providers carry the same risk of their customers doing something illegal? Of course, in this case, that risk is much higher.

Correct,

See this thread where I shed some more light on this

Hosting business is more regulated.
You have DMCA to combat bad actors, streamlined process of shutting site down.

Hosting is different in terms that website is passive, and easier to analyze,
it is in broad light for everybody to see what is going on. Reporting a site is very simple task.

User of such anonymous internet connection is more dangerous.
There is no limit to what individual can come up with, and how much damage he can cause,
and can stay undetected for long times. And when police knocks on your door? You're gonna say,
hey officer it wasn't me, this bloke paid me with BTC, and I rent him my IC, I don't even know who he is.

I should have been a bit clearer. What I referred to was renting virtual private servers (which can also be used as bots, proxies, etc.), not so much to hosting websites.

However, I think you're right. It would be difficult to explain your situation to the police.

Sure, but sites know it's datacenter IP, and they play dumb, they let you use their site, but they know.
And every site that handles sensitive data, for example money, like bank sites or paypal, invest a lot of money to make sure they know the difference between residential and datacenter.

I think this thread's conversation deviated from your initial query. :)

This is true. There are fewer providers because static/dedicated residential IPs are harder to "create" and more expensive.

If you happened to need them, may I ask for what purpose?

Personally, I used them a couple of times for accessing "local data" and I needed geo-specific residential proxies for a particular area.

The problem is that the speeds arent fast enough on back connect rotating proxies, and on some sites it helps immensely to have the same IP address the entire time.
