Do you guys think Penguin 3.0 has already happened?

It's way way way overdue, and that "Payday Loans" update seems to be affecting lots of niches other than just spam ones. I've found SEO services I've always used unable to positively move rankings whereas they always did before.

Is there even a remote chance that Penguin 3.0 hit and it was just soft on the penalty side?

Sorry if it's dumb, I'm more of a marketer than an SEO guy I always outsource lol.

I don't know what Google's marketing and disinformation dept likes to call it, but in case you're wondering: links still rule and Google is doing everything in their power so nobody can buy/sell or trade links and must buy Adwords instead.

Some have said that the "payday loans" update is closely related to the penguin update and that it is what they will be using in replace of the penguin update. I don't believe this is true at all. I believe that the webspam team is in no hurry to send a penguin algorithm update as they were not bugged about it as much as the panda issues. So why should they be in a rush to push the update?

PS: One of my sites was hit with the penguin algorithm last year, I got rid of a lot of backlinks and disavowed the rest (emphasis on deleting most of them), so I have been keeping an eye out for the next penguin update.

Google continues to fight linkbuilding often by de-indexing sites that you can get them from, which just means they are fighting things that actually work. They are experimenting different techniques but they dont really work most of the time.

i dont think Penguin 3.0 has happened so far. But a lots of thing have happened in recent times, like panda and then payday loan update, so things are moving at faster pace. You cant just get ranked with one package or service , you need to use them more wisely now..

Google's greed is going out of control. They will probably roll out another update and then unblock frozen results to get some fresh sites for another 6 months.

After penguin 3.0 you will be able to find in results only: wikipedia, yelp, amazon, youtube, ebay and yellowpages. Such a great feature, such a great search engine
