K so when im getting backlinks to my site i do it the proper WH way.. like I read the post and then make a proper comment on it related to the post... and then leave my link(s) its either 1 link or 2 at most.. and i vary the keyword every time

Now I have a competitor who is ranking higher than me and he comments like this..

Thanks for sharing.
-link1 | link2 | link3 | link4 | link5 | link6 | link7 | link8 |
link9 | link 10 |...
by thi way he gets a backlink to all of his pages.. and apparently its working... he is also using the same keywords on every comment... and i dont know why he isnt getting sandboxed for those keywords..

any thoughts on this?

Sandbox is a myth like the G spot

Very good question. The simple fact is that this sort of spam linking can work. I know because I have tried it before, although not quite as bad. I always took care to put some text in between the links.

I don't do it these days because one site I tried it on went down in Google and never returned - but I cannot be sure the linking style was the reason (as i've had at least 3 sites succeed using this sort of linking style).

I know also that one of my competitors did exactly what you are describing. They were riding high, then disappeared for 4 months exactly. Then, I am sorry to say, they came back stronger.

What you do next depends on the risk you are prepared to take with your site. If you are one of the people who put all their eggs in one basket and only have 1 site, then I would not recommend following their example. If you can risk a possible sandboxing (it's not a myth) then try some of their tactics some of the time, but intersperse the links with more text.

thanks micallef for sticking to the topic and explaining it
