Do you feel IM is a ‘future proof’ profession

Just wondering with google unveiling the so called Quantum Supremacy what direction do you think IM is heading in the next 5 years?

Is it ever possible Google, Microsoft and even Amazon can make a move that will completely disrupt the traditional value chaining of IM that we’re used to.
What if they make pagerank obsolete rendering the value of linking useless. And replace it with a more monopolistic, premium solution for those that really wish to get their sotes and pages ahead.

Do you think it’s possible?

As long as you adapt to the changing conditions, you are safe otherwise nothing is foolproof.

BTW, pagerank is long dead.
 
"IM" is a broad term.

If Google does indeed introduce something like that, then sure, SEO would become more difficult or maybe even obsolete. However, there will always be pie to be had. That might mean paying to play, but if you are serious about IM, being adaptable and willing to change is a tool that you must have in your arsenal.
 
Internet Marketing will always be a thing, but it's a somewhat unsecure field to work in, depending on what you do exactly.

Just make sure you don't live from paycheck to paycheck and you will be good. You really gotta have some money in the bank so you can get through a couple months should your IM projects go down the drain, so that you got time to get new projects going or find an offline job.

I also believe that IM is such a broad field that there will always be something new where human help is still needed. Also, we humans will serve and guide the AI. I think the most important keyword is adaptation.
 
It's not my bread and butter anyway I just enjoy doing it on the side but there are always angles and plays to make. Thats the fun of it.
 
I don't think it's future proof, just my opinion.
 
These changes are not rolled out over night. You will see them coming and prepare for them. Then use your black hat mentality to make more money while everyone else is being scared of the changes that are coming.
 
The marketing profession has pretty much been around since the first business was founded. Techniques and methods will definitely change in the future, but IM will always be a thing.
 
Well your assumption includes the fact that marketers are relying only on the big platforms for generating traffic. Internet marketing will always be around as long as there is internet but the game will constantly be changing. Working with local clients that need a mixture of online and offline marketing makes life a little bit more simple but I’d be lying if I said the future of IM doesn’t scare me.
 
Change always happens so nothing is set in stone there will always be ways to make $$$$ online tho
 
Whats google got to do with IM ? IM is not SEO homie, lots of people hate that free seo shit and are doing great
 
Google has always taught us to 'expect the unexpected'
