We work in digital marketing...

We use our screen all the time to evolve and make money.

Do you ever feel stuck in a sense that you become a slave to the digital world more and more?

First thing I do in the morning is looking at my phone, last thing I do during the evening is looking at my phone.

Are we a generation of digital addicts who lost purpose of life ?

No bad or "true " answers exists, just share your thoughts and point of view :)

I miss building houses sometimes .. But, it is winter, so it is nice and warm inside .. =)

Ps. I´m only addicted to BHW, I check my phone like 2-3 times max per day .. =)

In my opinion/case I try to diversify my daily activities like a morning walk, gym in the afternoon in way to escape the "system" haha

use to feel an addiction then things happened that made me say
fck this shit, and i slashed my online time in half, to young to waste
my life online anymore -- spend it with your family

Id say its the matter of perspectives.

By all means you can now go live a nomadic lifestyle and not be bound by the computer.

But you chose to get involved in the digital world no? Unless if you're feeling forced then it is I guess.

So then what would be the next best alternative?

It helps to leverage you to be free if anything compared to what life was like in the 20th centruy and earlier imho. If you feel you're a slave to it it's probably because you're over doing it; too much of a good thing :)

Its nothing wrong to check phone right in morning. Depends what you check, I do the same but i check how much I earned while I slept and if i didnt got any important email.

No, not in my opinion.
As with any business there is a period where you need to work your ass off to see if what you’re doing is feasible. Once you find that out, you should set hours for yourself and schedule your day accordingly. Set your status/tell your clients your online from this time until this time. Otherwise you will go crazy.

Very interesting topic i was researching a lot. Every addiction is based on Dopamine. Your brain release it to motivate you to do things needed for survive. Hunting and chasing animals is not always fun but if you are hungry dopamine will fuel you. Its like when you are laying on bed feeling totally tired that you cant even move but when your girlfriend text you she is home alone you could fly there all of sudden.
It today age you dont need to think about survival so you have more time to spent on social media, doing drugs etc... After some time it will wire to your brain physically and then you alone will hardly stop it. Your brain will remember what you practice which is a good thing because thats how we learn habits. But if you practice smoking meth your brain doesnt care if its good or not.

I dont know if it counts as digital addiction but i played online slots a lot

People are not addicted to digital.
They are addicted to constant reactions and the possibilities
of them from others.

They're addicted to the notifications breaking up the solitude.

Or

They live in an internet fantasy. Escapism.
Digital is the delivery system.

Before that it was old dudes watching news 24/7 while reading the paper.

I think if you work in IM or Digital Marketing you are way more aware of screentime, addiction, etc. than the average folk. I personally know some people having a screentime of 8 hours per day. And its mostly like playing random games, swiping through TikTok, chatting or other stuff. Day in day out. Especially in Asia...for example China, it became a huge problem to a point where the govt. had to intervene. Over there I saw couples going to restaurants, not talking a single sentence with each other, just staring on their phone screen or watching tv-shows on their phone.

Personally, I deleted TikTok, Facebook and Twitter from my phone...and franky: I don't miss it. Most of the content there is controversial bs or animal videos. The only app I got is Instagram, but only to see what my siblings and friends are doing. My screentime is like 2-3 hours per day, but mostly because I am chatting with my girlfriend.
