Do you diversify your web hosting?

I'm very new to this world, so forgive me if this is a daft question. When you are looking to set up a lot of niche sites to monetize with AdSense etc., do you try to use a different host (or at least a different account at the same host) for each site? I'm worried that if I use a reseller account, if one site gets slapped down by Google, then they might take down the rest with it. What is the best policy regarding hosting accounts in this sense?

If it's in your budget, and it should be when you want to do that, a big YES!

Not that you have some sites save from others, you can also put further domains on these different webhost's, and use them for link exchanges, to gain links to your main site.

And yes, I suggest you to do 1 big site, besides the small one's.

Over the long run, a big authority sites outranks several small one's without much work in the end. Keep that in mind.

budget is an improtant facotr in diversifying your hosting

If you are monetizing your sites with adsense why would your hosting matter? Google knows all the sites are yours anyway so why bother?

While I do have my money sites split up a bit it is not so much to keep them apart as to make sure if something happens to one server I will still have some working.

The only time I take care to separate one is if I am trying something new and dark that I think will piss off Google if they catch me.

Point taken! I hadn't even thought of that.

So, if you are dabbling in the dark arts, I guess a) you don't use AdSense on that site and b) you keep it hosted away from your sites that do use AdSense?

There are ways you can spread AdSense accounts, by using different names etc.

But it's a tough game.

More money, more problems.

Not necessary at all.

Going back to your example, if you have a re-seller account and were an actual re-seller, so if some of your clients you were hosting were doing shady things, does that mean all the other "good clients" on your server would get hit as well? Of course not.

Also if you have Adsense already on your sites then Google already knows where all your sites are. Unless you plan on having dozens of Adsense accounts then there really is no point in diversifying hosting for the sake of "covering your tracks" if you don't intend to have multiple Adsense accounts to match.

I prefer different host, you never know what big G will do and i prefer not to have all my eggs in 1 basket
