I don't, but I wonder if there's a way to access the camera without the LED light getting activated. What do you think?

I personally don't because I feel like I'm not that much important for them seeing me. If they can get any additional info, I'm scared about info inside my computer. Since he have access to my cam, he might have access to my personal files, which could make a problem for me.

My thinkpad has a privacy switch that physically covers the webcam. Why not

and coincidence you received email from scammer, they will claim I got your footage doing those dirty stuffs , even know what your surf etc , They will leak out if you don't send them xxx amount of BTC .
and yes I does received this email before but i don't bother .
why i suddenly ask about webcam been hack , remote control , the light will turn on right? but why some victime don't know?
happen to see this guy video , he is good to expose scammer.
in this video, he got show the scammer doing remote control of a victim pc and turn on his webcam
this is where by I puzzle that victim don't know his webcam is turn on? As the indicator light will on if the cam is turn on.

It's trivial to disable the LED once you have the kind of access needed to spy someone through a webcam. It's unlikely for you to be especifically targeted by this if you're not someone important in a big company, works with info sec or did something to piss off a three letter agency. That said, vulns that any script kiddie can exploit show up all the time and you might be recorded when someone targets a ton of vulnerable devices. Better safe than sorry, plus a plastic cover costs like a dollar if you don't want to put electrical tape over your webcam

It was of my (limited) understanding that if a hacker got into your webcam, then the first thing they'd do.. would be to disable your webcam indication LED.. so I don't trust that as a true indication if it's on or not.. personally I have my turned in towards the wall unless I'm using it.. also a piece of black electrical tape on my phones forward facing camera.. no smart TV's either.. you just never know who could be watching i'm sorry to say.. although admittedly as ProxyGuys said previously, they'd either have to have a good reason to target you, or just be very lucky?
