I feel like eBooks have a scammy reputation but I'm wondering if that's just my skewed perception of them.
Do you buy eBooks? Have you bought any recently? Did they bring you value?

The reason I'm asking is because I've had a pretty significant number of people reach out to me about one of my posts asking saying they want to pay me to teach them about it. Because of this I have been pondering upon the idea of putting all I've learned into an e-book as it gets pretty tiring explaining a subject over and over :D

This is the reason I have some resistance towards making my own. I've always corelated them with scams.
 
I'm OK with ebooks for fiction, but not for courses or stuff like that. Often anything with figures or graphs in it just doesn't display well on a phone, plus there are inevitably some formatting issues once you start looking at images. However, I have bought an online course that I could do on the computer with step by step info and homework. That was fine - also if there's some technical issue with it displaying, I feel like it's easier to contact the person for customer service. So I'm a no for ebooks for learning/nonfiction/etc but I'm OK with online courses for that.
 
depends on what you buy, how much you pay and what your expectations are. lots of outright scams, lots of regurgitated info, and lots of ebooks teaching very specific things that it would be a pain to learn on your own and won't make you rich, but can work as a piece of the puzzle. i have found the last ones to be the most worthwhile ones.
also, price is not a guarantee of quality but can be a guarantee of lack of quality. the course costing thousands often means nothing, but anything below 20usd, you should expect it to be regurgitated outdated info and rarely it won't be so.

Agreed, I figured as long as they're a generous price and telling you exactly what you'll learn it's fine.
For example if an e-book's main theme is something along the lines of "make $300/day with X", I'd avoid.

ebooks from "how-to-make-money-online" sites/courses are by far the worst and useless books I've ever found, you end up almost always with basic stuff/methods that are almost useless.
The most valuable books on making money are the ones that doesn't use the "make money now" clickbait usually, or at least they use this but actually gives some hints that can make you recognise whether it'll be filled with basic shit or if it's actually worth.
 
I bought a few PDFs here on BHW, but generally (if you count actual "books") I prefer the paper ones.

If the title of the e-book is something like "Make $100/day", I'd definitely avoid it too.

I'm the opposite, I prefer reading than listening to a book.
 
If you wanna make money do a course. For some reason people buy courses for hundreds of dollars while books are always around $20.

If you charge more for the course it will also be perceived as more valuable. Pretty sure you could make pretty significant money teaching all the stuff you learn here to people on insta if you package it right.

I wouldn't like to charge anything over $150 to be honest. Remember, I want to make this e-book not primarily to make money but because a lot of people have asked me for help.

You got the right mind. Noone wants to be another Tai Lopez copy.

Just saying there's are lot of money to be made in teaching. Specially if you genuinely like helping people.

They're not all scams, but most are pure rehashed information.
