I'm doing SEO for a close family member. Looking to rank for a competitive term province/state-wide. Population is ~13 million, so it's going to be decent competition but they are not that strong backlink-wise. We are talking DA20-25 sites here.

We are sitting on page 3 and I haven't even started to do on-site SEO. Social signals are strong and the reviews on Google Maps will be boosted soon. Sitting at 5 with 4.7 star right now.

Anyways, budget is going to be around $300-700 per month, I'm going to outsource it all to VAs. Not going to do any work myself, since I'm not being paid.

With that kind of money I can afford to build out an awesome local private blog network with country-specific domains.

Do you build out PBNs for your local clients or do you push on other signals instead?

Wait.. I'm looking at your signature and see 70% of the answer in it. Add some web's, local citation to it and you should see a decent boost

I haven't started much for this site, but yeah, I have the capabilities haha :)

I was mostly just wondering how many people stuck to reviews, social, citations, etc or if they went the PBN route for local businesses too.

Reviews Socials Citations for naked and brand links. For brick & mortar clients I usually manually build some very high quality 2.0's then use those as buffers for outsourced pbn work. For what some of the sellers here are offering, it would not make sense to do it on your own.

PBN if built right, with lot of diversity in everything, no footprints - always works. But... $300 - is two PBN sites monthly... You just won't see any effect.

$300 gets you heck of a lot more than 2 PBN sites...
