Do you audit your backlink profile regularly, or just fix it when rankings drop?

Lately, I’ve been making it a habit to run Regular backlink audits. checking anchors, disavowing junk, spotting random spammy links from nowhere.
Before that, I used to just react when traffic dipped.
But now I feel like staying ahead helps avoid bigger messes later.

Curious! do you guys check your link profile on a schedule basis, or only when something happened?

Indeed, maintaining a competitive edge is essential.
I would suggest working with a backlink monitoring tool; A quick search will get you some pretty cheap ones.

That way you can easily get alerted when there are changes on profile.

Most people check only when traffic drops, but regular audits catch negative SEO early. Monthly is enough unless it’s a fresh or high-competition project — then weekly makes sense.

Google is very good at disregarding spammy links themselves, so I usually don't put time into it as most sites gets load of spamlinks the more traffic they get.

The only time I would manually disavow is when it is an obvious negative SEO campaign targeting your site, which is pretty easy to spot...

Regular backlink audits are key to maintaining SEO. It’s better to be proactive, checking quarterly or bi-monthly, rather than only reacting when rankings drop. Tools like Ahrefs, SEMrush, and Google Search Console can help track sources, disavow harmful links, and ensure anchor text diversity. How do you audit?

I now run regular backlink audits to stay ahead, checking anchors, disavowing junk, and spotting spammy links, instead of only reacting when traffic dips curious if you all do the same!
