SEO on Google. Are you currently using a 301 redirect?
Add links to a 301 redirect - regardless of whether it is a short link or a 301 entire domain redirect. Do you have any influence on the increase of your position?

It's works with expired domains with high metrics

Only for metric building IMO, getting more reputation and drawing in more links

You may also draw in some rankings from the previous site SERPs if it hasn't been penalized.
